Medischool measures during COVID-19
29 January 2021
The past year or so has been rife with challenges, as the novel COVID-19 wreaks havoc on the planet. We at Medischool have adopted a safety protocol in our own center, as well as all the establishments and schools where our staff operates, as we strive to protect our community through awareness, early detection, and intervention.
The aforementioned protocol includes:
- Regular disinfection of all premises.
- Observation and follow up of students, performed by nurses.
- In case of outbreak: proper investigation to protect the employees and their families.
- Implementing a strategy to isolate schools department from one another.
- Starting a mobile clinic.
- Isolating students or employees who show symptoms.
The new strain
A new strain of the novel COVID-19 was discovered in the UK a few weeks ago. According to a new study published at Imperial College London, it appears that children and teenagers are more likely to catch the new COVID strain. Here’s what we also know so far:
- It's more transmissible than the current dominant strain, but not deadlier.
- Vaccines recently developed will still be effective against the new strain.
- If you've previously contracted COVID-19, you're not likely to catch the new variant, as natural immunity doesn't appear to have been affected (same as the vaccines).
- Precautionary measures should remain the same: Wear a mask, wash your hands and social distancing!
