The Healthy Schools Program Framework of Best Practices identifies specific criteria that define a healthy school environment. Through an assessment tool and a customized action plan, the framework helps schools work towards becoming a Healthy School. Schools must implement specific best practices in each of the following modules that address school health:

  • School Health and Safety Policies
  • Health Education
  • Physical Education and Other Physical Activity Programs
  • Nutrition Services
  • Safe Environment
  • Health Promotion for Staff
  • Family and Community Involvement

Safety protocols are assigned and communicated with the academic team, which include awareness of signs and symptoms, and an action plan for emergencies. Also, tracking school staff absenteeism is part of our responsibility.

Vision Screening Postural Screening
Reports generated from the Spot Vision Screener are revised and approved by our doctors and referred to an ophthalmologist when needed. School Scoliosis Screening (SSS) is recommended as a means of early detection of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) to prevent its progression in school-aged children.

Growth Screening Dental Screening
A brief test using a screening tool does not provide a diagnosis, but it indicates if a child is on the right development track or if a specialist should take a closer look. The doctor checks for cavities and gum disease and evaluates the risk of developing oral health problems, as well as check the face, neck, and mouth for abnormalities.

Hearing Screening Regular Physical Assessment

Many children might have undiagnosed hearing problems that may result in delayed speech and linguistic abilities, language deficiency, possibly leading to learning problems and limited academic achievements.

Communication difficulties could also lead to undesired behavior and poor self-confidence translated to emotional and behavioral problems.

A physical assessment can be a preventive step since it allows to catch up on vaccinations or detect a serious condition, like, a heart murmur, before it causes severe problems. Regular check up on transmissible disease and assign protocols to avoid spreading.

Students with special medical conditions (diabetes, epilepsy, heart condition…) are regularly monitored in our clinics in collaboration with private doctors and parents.
